No More Mr. Nice Guy

Have you heard the expression, "No good deed goes unpunished"?

It's absolutely true.

Whenever I loan people money, people whom I knew were deep in trouble and really needed it, and more importantly whom I trusted... Guess what? They completely #%@! me over. Some even have the nerve to ask to borrow more money from me. (To dissuade them I just make sure to immediately ask them for my money whenever I see them. Then they at least leave me alone.)

Also, I bought several people deviantArt accounts because I love their work and their attitudes. So what happens? More than half of them stopped posting; several of the rest are pretty much only doing polls and journals. One person even told me that he's annoyed that I'd give money to dA on his behalf.

Oh, better yet, another deviant has a journal entry thanking someone else for the subscription! And this is someone I've done gift art for (perhaps sucky gift art by some standards, but I certainly put more than a little effort into it.)

And the last time I drew, inked and colored a complete picture for someone... oh, I don't even want to go there. :furious: I've practiced my ass off using the tablet since, but every time I actually try to draw now I just hear, "even though it's completely lacking in technical skill."

Then there are people who ask me to proofread their fanfics, sometimes very long and usually very messy. After spending days proofreading, making detailed notes and tons of corrections, often they don't want to wait or go through the corrections: they just post the crappy versions. Even those who use the corrections often make the exact same mistakes in the next stories and then they want me to slog through and fix them all over again.

Oh, and goodness forbid that I ink, color or even animate a piece for someone! How freakin' rude of me! How often is there a thank you or even a nice try? Nothing. No matter how much better it may look, they're not going to post it. They won't even answer me when I ask if I can post it instead. On a few occasions I've even poured my soul into writing stories based on people's artwork... Still nothing.

Finally, after years of pouring my heart into helping out on a forum (where the bulk of my detailed commentaries go), helping others with all sorts of problems and, oh yeah, donating a fair bit of money to keep the servers running, they promote obnoxious doofuses instead of at least considering me. Heck, I'm the one breaking up fights while some of these folks were famous for starting fights!

Yep, that's me trying to be serious, though it makes me look more like Burgess Meredith as the Penguin.

and sorry for my English... ;)
Don't worry about your English -- it's fine, and much better than I can speak any other languages. As for the watch, it's just that I like good art. :)

Thanks for the fav on my "Love hurts" [link] !!
You're absolutely most welcome. It's a very poignant piece and expresses a lot more in just her face than the writing on the wall (er, mirror).
